Hatha Yoga

The search for happiness within every human heart is the search for the true nature of who we are. The sanskrit word of yoga means union, and has been defined as the union of mind and body, heart and actions.

The word hatha is a sanskrit combination of ha (sun) and tha (moon), which is the union of opposites. Qualities associated with the sun are heat, masculinity and effort, while the moon qualities are coolness, feminity and surrender. Every person has the male on their right side of the body and the female on the left side of their body.

Hatha yoga is designed to help us bring our pair of opposites together in our minds, bodies and spirits in order to go deeper within ourselves to find our inherent nature.

Hatha Yoga provides the perfect balance of stretching, breathing and exercise to improve balance, strength, coordination, flexibility, posture, and concentration. The physical exercises are called Asanas, which increase body flexibility, and focus on the strength and flexibility of the spine. By maintaining the spine's flexibility and strength, circulation is increased and the nerves are ensured their supply of nutrients and oxygen. The Asanas also positively affect the internal organs and the endocrine system (glands and hormones).
